The Oklahoma City Thunder (39-11) delivered a convincing performance against the Denver Nuggets (33-17) Sunday night, winning 121-111 in this first meeting of the season between two Western Conference heavyweights.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Cason Wallace in spectacular form

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander once again demonstrated why he ranks among the best players in the league, recording 34 points and 13 assists in a complete performance. The Canadian guard orchestrated the Thunder’s offense brilliantly, consistently finding his teammates while remaining efficient on offense.

Cason Wallace perfectly supported his franchise player, posting a remarkable night with 27 points and 6 rebounds. The young guard provided the necessary offensive impact to keep Denver at bay. Aaron Wiggins also contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds, confirming Oklahoma City’s impressive roster depth.

A controlled start against Nikola Jokic

From the first quarter, the Thunder set the tone by taking the lead 32-26. Gilgeous-Alexander had already distributed 4 assists for 6 points, while Wallace was already scoring 8 points. Aaron Wiggins proved valuable with 5 points and 2 steals.

On Denver’s side, Peyton Watson tried to keep his team in the game with 10 points in the first period, but the Nuggets never managed to reverse the trend against a confident Thunder team.

This victory allows the Thunder to bounce back after their 123-111 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves last Thursday. Oklahoma City thus confirms its position as Western Conference leader, while Denver sees its record fall to 33 wins and 17 losses after this home defeat.
