Jarrett Allen delivered the performance of his life Sunday night in Portland. The Cleveland Cavaliers center shattered his career high by scoring 40 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in the 130-111 victory over the Trail Blazers. A dominant display that will be remembered for years to come.
Allen was simply unstoppable on both ends of the floor. Shooting 16/23 from the field, he added 5 assists, 4 blocks and 2 steals to his stat line. The most impressive part? This exceptional performance was accomplished in less than 30 minutes of playing time, a first in NBA history for such statistics.
The Trail Blazers found no answer to stop Allen. Donovan Clingan, despite being solid defensively, could only endure the law of the Cavs center. Allen put on a spectacular show, stringing together dunks in transition, post moves and even a « dream shake » worthy of Hakeem Olajuwon in the third quarter.
By halftime, Allen had already scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, setting the tone for an exceptional evening. Cleveland led 57-48 at the break before blowing the game open in the third quarter, winning that period 41-30 thanks in part to shooting 6/11 from three-point range.

Sam Merrill perfectly complemented Allen with 22 points, including 6 three-pointers on 8 attempts. Donovan Mitchell, less involved offensively with 14 points, was content to distribute the ball with 9 assists, letting his teammates shine.
This victory allows the Cavaliers to bounce back after their loss to Phoenix and continue their excellent run with 6 wins in their last 7 games. The Trail Blazers, without Deni Avdija (back), suffered their fifth consecutive loss despite 21 points from Caleb Love.
Cleveland will continue their Western road trip Wednesday against the Los Angeles Clippers, buoyed by this historic performance from their center who just reminded everyone of his importance to the Cavaliers system.
