The Detroit Pistons put on an offensive showcase against the Brooklyn Nets, winning 130-77 in a one-sided contest. This 53-point victory margin is the largest in franchise history, surpassing the 52-point margin in their 118-66 win at Boston on January 31, 2003.

Jalen Duren and Cade Cunningham lead the Pistons’ charge

Jalen Duren perfectly celebrated his selection as an Eastern Conference All-Star Game reserve, announced Sunday night. The Pistons center compiled 21 points and 10 rebounds in a dominant performance. Alongside him, Cade Cunningham, an All-Star Game starter, orchestrated the offense with 18 points, 12 assists, and 4 steals.

The Pistons, Eastern Conference leaders with a 36-12 record, took control from the first half. Cunningham led the way with 13 points, 10 assists, and 4 steals before halftime, allowing Detroit to lead 67-44. Ausar Thompson capped off this first period with a buzzer-beating shot from mid-court.

The third quarter definitively sealed the game’s fate. Detroit dominated this period 33-18, extending their lead to 100-62. The margin reached as high as 55 points, illustrating the Pistons’ complete superiority in all aspects of the game.

On the Nets’ side, who have a disappointing 13-35 record, Cam Thomas and Drake Powell scored 12 points each. The absence of Michael Porter Jr, the team’s leading scorer held out for personal reasons, weighed heavily in this historic defeat.

This victory allows the Pistons to secure their second consecutive win after their victory against Golden State Friday night, concluding a three-game road trip with a positive 2-1 record. Both teams will play Tuesday night: Brooklyn will host the Lakers while Detroit will welcome Denver.
