Team France Basketball 2025 revealed: 58 players in expanded roster

Team France Basketball, a concept launched in 2017 to meet FIBA calendar requirements, received a new update this Monday, June 2. Jacques Commères (Performance Director), Boris Diaw (General Manager) and Frédéric Fauthoux (Head Coach) presented an expanded group of 58 players who will form the backbone of the French National Team for upcoming competitions, including EuroBasket 2025 and the 2027 World Cup qualifiers, the first step toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

A broad foundation for building future campaigns
The stated objective of this update is clear: anticipate potential absences of key players, particularly those playing in the NBA or EuroLeague, and continue capitalizing on France’s deep talent pool. This group of 58 names, which includes both experienced veterans (Evan Fournier, Rudy Gobert, Vincent Poirier) and promising young prospects (Zaccharie Risacher, Tidjane Salaün, Victor Wembanyama), reflects this ambition for versatility and flexibility.
« The Team France Basketball project has proven itself over eight years and illustrates the significant depth of French basketball, » explained Frédéric Fauthoux. « We had lengthy discussions with my staff to establish a broad list, which will evolve based on players’ performances and availability. »
From NBA to Betclic ELITE through Europe
The list naturally includes most French players currently in the NBA: Wembanyama, Coulibaly, Hayes, Dieng, Sarr, and Cissoko. But also internationals playing in EuroLeague or top European leagues like Fall, Lessort, Yabusele, Jaiteh, Okobo, Francisco, and Luwawu-Cabarrot.
This openness extends further with the inclusion of less-capped players who have been monitored by the national team staff for several years, such as Jaylen Hoard (Maccabi Tel Aviv), Damien Inglis (Japan), Adam Mokoka (Romania), Hugo Besson (Turkey), and Jonathan Jeanne (Pro B). It’s also a way to keep everyone involved in the French national team project.
New faces to watch
This list also marks the emergence of a new generation embodied by Joan Beringer (2006), Mohamed Diawara (2005), Nolan Traore (2006), Alexandre Sarr (2005), Noah Penda (2005), and Noa Essengue (2006). These players, most still in development or early in their professional careers, represent real promise for the future.
While waiting to see who will make up the team for November’s qualifiers, this expanded Team France 2025 provides a very representative picture of the current diversity and richness of French basketball.
