Spain erased doubts from their opening defeat against Georgia by dominating Bosnia and Herzegovina 88-67 in Limassol. The four-time continental champions showed a completely different face to secure their first tournament victory and level their record to 1-1 in Group C.

Santi Aldama leads Spain’s offensive charge

La Roja took control of the game in the second quarter thanks to an 11-2 run that allowed them to build a 35-20 lead. The advantage then extended to 18 points before four 3-pointers in the first four minutes of the second period brought the score to 56-34, definitively sealing the outcome of the game.

Santi Aldama was unstoppable for Spain. The NBA forward converted 7 of his 11 shot attempts, including 4 three-pointers, to finish with 19 points. He also grabbed 5 rebounds without committing a single turnover in just 19 minutes of play. Willy Hernangomez added 16 points while Dario Brizuela contributed 15 points and 5 assists.

For Bosnia, Kenan Kamenjas was the top scorer with 14 points, while Jusuf Nurkic was limited to 10 points. The difference was particularly noticeable from long range: Spain converted 15 three-pointers with an excellent 39% success rate, while Bosnia and Herzegovina only made 3 out of 21 attempts (14%).

This wide victory allows Spain to approach their next game against Cyprus on Sunday with confidence. The 21-point margin could also prove valuable in case of a three-way tie in the group, partially offsetting the 14-point deficit conceded against Georgia. Bosnia and Herzegovina will face another tough challenge against Italy, who defeated Georgia on the first day.
