Sergio Scariolo makes history after Real Madrid’s dominant performance against Barcelona

Sergio Scariolo didn’t just see his Real Madrid dominate FC Barcelona this Sunday. The Italian coach also made his mark on Spanish championship history by reaching a symbolic milestone.
Real Madrid delivered a true demonstration on the Palau Blaugrana court, dominating FC Barcelone from start to finish (76-95), particularly thanks to an exceptional second quarter (15-36).
A Madrid demonstration in the Clásico
After a balanced first quarter (18-15), Real Madrid completely turned the game around in the second period. With an incredible 8/9 from 3-point range in those ten minutes, the Madrid team built an insurmountable lead (33-51 at halftime).
Led by Facundo Campazzo (15 points), Mario Hezonja (13 points) and Gabriele Procida (14 points), the Liga Endesa leaders then perfectly controlled the second half. Coming off the bench, French international Théo Maledon contributed 11 points on 3/6 shooting, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in 22 minutes.
For FC Barcelona, they never managed to get back in the game. Despite efforts from Jan Vesely (15 points) and Joel Parra (11 points), the Catalans suffered from insufficient outside shooting (9/27 from 3-point range) and a struggling Kevin Punter (9 points).
A historic milestone for Sergio Scariolo
Beyond the victory, this game marks a turning point for Sergio Scariolo. With this win, he reaches 308 victories in Liga Endesa, which makes him the 9th most successful coach in championship history.
He thus surpasses Salva Maldonado (307 wins) and displays a solid winning percentage of 65.8% (308 victories in 468 games).
A longevity and consistency that confirms the Italian coach’s status as a reference on Spanish benches, having also successfully coached Baskonia and Malaga.
Real Madrid launched toward an ambitious season finale
With this win, Real Madrid strengthens its position as leader and continues an impressive season (21 wins in 23 games).
After the game, Sergio Scariolo expressed satisfaction with his team’s collective performance. « A very good game, very complete on both sides of the court, » he emphasized, while insisting on the importance of the second quarter.
But true to his demanding nature, the Italian quickly turned his attention to what’s ahead: « The really decisive games are in EuroLeague, » he reminded, mentioning a particularly busy schedule.
One thing is certain: between domestic dominance and European ambitions, Sergio Scariolo’s Real Madrid seems to be running at full speed.
