The Toronto Raptors pulled off an upset Sunday night by defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 103-101, the NBA leaders. This fourth consecutive victory for the Canadians perfectly illustrates their recent surge against a Thunder team weakened by injuries.
Immanuel Quickley was the main architect of this victory with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Scottie Barnes added 10 points and 10 rebounds. R.J. Barrett also contributed with 14 points to complete the Raptors collective effort.
The drives from Jamal Shead have been important all year long.

On the Oklahoma City side, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander once again shined with 24 points on 8/11 shooting, extending his impressive streak to 117 consecutive games with at least 20 points scored. This performance places him just nine games away from Wilt Chamberlain’s all-time record (126 games).
Lu Dort posted his best game of the season with 19 points, including four 3-pointers on eight attempts. Kenrich Williams (15 points) and Chet Holmgren (11 points, 10 rebounds) also made contributions, but it wasn’t enough against a determined Raptors team.
The Thunder were playing without several injured starters, notably Jalen Williams, Isaiah Hartenstein and Ajay Mitchell. The situation became even more complicated with Cason Wallace leaving the game due to a left groin injury.
The Raptors took the lead from halftime (64-60) by limiting Gilgeous-Alexander to just 9 points on 2/5 shooting. The reigning MVP woke up in the third quarter with 12 points, allowing the Thunder to regain the lead 81-79.
Crunch time went Toronto’s way thanks to the defensive impact of Barnes, who blocked a shot by Holmgren in the final seconds. Despite two missed free throws by Jamal Shead with 13 seconds remaining, the Raptors grabbed the offensive rebound, allowing Quickley to seal the victory from the free-throw line (8.2 seconds remaining).
This loss marks the third time Oklahoma City has lost two consecutive games this season, following the upset loss to the Indiana Pacers on Friday. The Thunder (37-10) will need to regroup to maintain their lead in the NBA standings.
