Quinn Snyder had one of those nights Saturday in Atlanta — the kind that sneaks up on you. The Hawks coach picked up his 500th career win in a 123–113 victory over the Sacramento Kings, becoming the 41st coach in NBA history — and just the sixth active — to reach the milestone.
“It was special,” Snyder said afterward. “When you’ve been in this league a while, you realize coaches get the stats, but it’s really the players and the people around you who make it happen. I’ve been lucky to coach not just great players, but great people.”
A spectacular comeback led by Alexander-Walker and Johnson
The Atlanta Hawks had to work for this one against a Sacramento Kings group sitting at the bottom of the West. Atlanta fell behind early, but flipped the game with force — sparked by Nickeil Alexander-Walker (27 points, 8 assists) and Jalen Johnson (26 points, 10 assists), who controlled the tempo on both ends.
After a sluggish first quarter (down 27–30), the Hawks ripped off a 22–5 run before halftime to seize a 66–54 lead. Sacramento didn’t go away — they clawed back in the fourth and even knotted it at 97–97 — but Atlanta had another gear, closing with a clean, decisive 11–0 burst.
The separator? Shot-making under pressure. Atlanta buried 8 of 12 from three in the final quarter, stretching the floor exactly when it mattered. Jock Landale added 19 points and 13 rebounds — his second double-double since arriving in February — giving the Hawks just enough interior presence to balance the perimeter fire.
Player development bearing fruit
This 500th victory perfectly illustrates the development work led by Snyder since his arrival in Atlanta. Despite a largely revamped roster with seven new players since the February 5 trade deadline, the Hawks are stringing together performances with 15 wins in 17 games.
« On behalf of the organization, I’d like to congratulate Coach Snyder on reaching 500 career wins, » said general manager Onsi Saleh. « This is truly a special milestone that reflects his unique ability to consistently put his players in position to succeed. »
Jock Landale also praised his coach’s impact: « Quin is incredible, honestly, and I don’t say that lightly. He’s been instrumental in bringing me up to speed with what’s happening exactly. He’s an excellent coach to play for. »
Congrats to Quin Snyder on securing his 500th career win‼️ 👏
A milestone that reflects consistency, leadership, and one of the sharpest minds in the game. Big moment for the Atlanta Hawks head coach.

With this victory, Atlanta consolidates its sixth place in the East and continues its march toward the playoffs, a goal that Snyder has not achieved in his first two seasons in Georgia.
