Victor Wembanyama drops 41 points against Chicago, his season high

Victor Wembanyama put together another one of those stat lines that barely makes sense in real time.

Against the Chicago Bulls, he went for 41 points on 17-of-27 shooting, added 16 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks — in just 30 minutes. Efficient, controlled, and completely overwhelming.

It’s a new season-high, topping his previous 40-point games against Dallas and the Los Angeles — and another reminder that this kind of production is quickly becoming routine.

A historic double-double in eight minutes

The wildest part came early.

Victor Wembanyama needed just 8 minutes and 31 seconds to get to a double-double — 10 points, 10 boards — the third-fastest since tracking began in 1997. Only Boban Marjanovic (8:13 in 2017) and Jonas Valanciunas (8:08 in 2025) have done it quicker.

By then, the San Antonio Spurs crowd at Frost Bank Center was already rolling: “MVP! MVP!” chants before the game had even settled. At halftime, Wembanyama was sitting on 21 points and 13 rebounds, and San Antonio had built a clean cushion (64–47).

Most of the damage came inside — 26 of his 41 in the paint — where Chicago just didn’t have the size or answers. Even Guerschon Yabusele (15 points, 5 rebounds) was stuck reacting. And the ex-Nanterre big punctuated it with a violent lefty dunk that basically sealed the tone for the night.

The Spurs string together a ninth consecutive victory

The San Antonio Spurs keep rolling.

The 129–114 win makes it nine straight, and pushes them to an absurd 25–2 run since February 1 — the best mark in the league over that stretch. Stephon Castle nearly flirted with a triple-double too: 21 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds — steady, controlled, and right in the flow of everything San Antonio did well.

“It wasn’t perfect,” Victor Wembanyama said after. “Collectively or individually. I would have liked to be better, but it’s still satisfying.”

The bigger picture is starting to sharpen.

San Antonio sits second in the West at 57–18, still chasing the Oklahoma City Thunder (59–16) for the top seed. Next up: a road test at the Golden State Warriors as part of a three-game trip, before closing the regular season with four straight at home — and maybe, just maybe, a late push for No. 1.
