Paolo Banchero dominates with 37 points in Magic’s victory over Wizards

Paolo Banchero delivered an exceptional performance Tuesday night, tying his season-high with 37 points as the Orlando Magic dominated the Washington Wizards 126-109. He was remarkably efficient, converting 15 of his 21 field goal attempts.
This victory allows the Magic to end a two-game losing streak and strengthen their seventh place position in the Eastern Conference. Orlando’s team displayed remarkable shooting accuracy at 55.3%, particularly dominating when their starters were on the court.
A decisive third quarter for Orlando
The first half had been balanced, with Washington leading 57-54 at halftime. Both teams had struggled from 3-point range, with the Magic converting only 1 of their first 13 attempts from long distance. The Wizards were still in contention at that point.
The turning point came in the third quarter. While Washington improved their shooting percentage to 52.6%, Orlando was simply perfect, making 15 of 19 attempts, including 5 of 5 from 3-point range. Banchero scored 13 of his 37 points during this crucial period, allowing the Magic to build a decisive 97-81 lead heading into the final quarter.
Desmond Bane provided valuable support with 25 points, while Jett Howard (12 points), Jalen Suggs, Jevon Carter and Moritz Wagner (10 points each) contributed to this collective victory. Orlando achieved this feat despite the absences of Anthony Black (quadriceps), Wendell Carter Jr. (ankle) and Franz Wagner (ankle).
For the Wizards, who had only nine available players, Will Riley stood out with 19 points, followed by Jaden Hardy (18 points) and Sharife Cooper (16 points off the bench). This sixth consecutive loss illustrates Washington’s current struggles. Rookie Juju Reese, brother of WNBA star Angel Reese who was in attendance, played his second game as a starter with 9 points and 8 rebounds in 32 minutes.
The two teams will meet again Thursday, with Washington hosting Utah while Orlando welcomes Dallas.
