The Golden State Warriors proved their resilience once again, overcoming the absence of their superstar Stephen Curry to defeat the Houston Rockets 115-113 in a nail-biting overtime battle at Houston. Brandon Podziemski stepped up as the primary scorer with 26 points, while De’Anthony Melton contributed 23 crucial points in the victory.

With Stephen Curry sidelined for his 12th consecutive game due to a knee injury, the Warriors relied on their depth to secure this hard-fought road win. The team has indicated that Curry is expected to be re-evaluated around Tuesday, leaving his return timeline uncertain.

Clutch performances decide overtime thriller

The game’s decisive moments came in the final seconds of overtime. With Golden State holding a three-point advantage and approximately 30 seconds remaining, Kevin Durant was fouled on a 3-point attempt, converting the first two free throws before missing the third. The Warriors secured the crucial rebound, setting up Melton’s game-sealing tip-in layup with just 5.3 seconds left on the clock, extending the lead to 115-112.

Durant managed to sink one of two subsequent free throws, but a foul by the Rockets allowed Golden State to maintain their advantage and close out the victory. Al Horford provided valuable support with 17 points, helping the Warriors overcome a talented Houston squad.

For the Rockets, Reed Sheppard delivered an outstanding performance with 30 points, including six successful 3-pointers. Durant added 23 points in the losing effort, while Alperen Sengun made crucial contributions in the closing moments of regulation.

The game remained deadlocked with less than three minutes remaining in overtime before Podziemski took control, nailing a 3-pointer followed by a driving layup to give Golden State a commanding 111-106 lead. Despite Houston’s late rally, including a 3-pointer from Durant that cut the deficit to one point, the Warriors maintained their composure to secure the victory.

The thrilling contest showcased both teams’ determination, with regulation ending in dramatic fashion after a successful Rockets challenge overturned a foul call with 6.5 seconds remaining. Golden State will look to build on this momentum when they visit Oklahoma City on Saturday night, while Houston returns home to face Portland on Friday night.
