The Knicks delivered their best performance of the series on Saturday night in Atlanta, winning 114-98 against the Hawks to level the first-round NBA Playoffs series at 2-2. After losing the previous two games by a single point, the New Yorkers responded with a collective display led by a superb Karl-Anthony Towns.

A historic triple-double for Karl-Anthony Towns

The Knicks’ center recorded the first triple-double of his playoff career with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. He became the fourth player in franchise history to record a playoff triple-double, joining Walt Frazier, Dick McGuire and Josh Hart.

Jalen Brunson added 19 points and 3 assists, while OG Anunoby, already on fire in Game 3 with 29 points and 9 rebounds, kept up his form with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Josh Hart finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds in this convincing road victory.

Knicks suffocate the Hawks

New York relied on an iron-clad defense to make the difference, holding Atlanta to just 24% from three-point range (0-for-10 combined for the C.J. McCollum – Jonathan Kuminga duo) and forcing 18 turnovers on the Atlanta side.

In control from start to finish, Mike Brown’s squad led by 14 points at halftime (58-44) before extending their advantage to 21 points at the end of the third quarter, giving both coaches the opportunity to rotate their benches in the closing minutes.

Miles McBride was once again valuable off the bench with 11 points on 3-of-6 from three, while Mohamed Diawara played his very first NBA playoff minutes at State Farm Arena (0 points on 0-for-3).

Wasteful, inaccurate (41% overall, 24% from three), and outrebounded (38-43), C.J. McCollum’s teammates — with McCollum posting his lowest scoring total of the series at 17 points — will need to respond quickly as both teams head back to New York. Game 5, often a pivotal moment in a playoff series, is scheduled for Tuesday at 2:00 AM.
