Nathan Soliman (6’7″, 16 years old) delivered his best performance of the season in National 1 men’s (NM1) despite INSEP’s loss at Fougères (85-76). The 16-year-old wing confirmed his potential against more experienced players.

An INSEP team in reconstruction

This season, INSEP is going through a transition period after the departure of several key players: Meissa Faye, Noa Kouakou-Heugue and Jonas Boulefaa (U18 last season), as well as two 2008-born players, Hugo Yimga-Moukouri and Cameron Houindo. Nathan Soliman, now U17, finds himself somewhat alone in leading a young group still learning the ropes. Before the game at Fougères, the team was averaging 63.2 points scored while conceding 88.3 points per game.

A standout performance at Fougères

Against a more experienced team, INSEP managed to limit the damage in the second half. Nathan Soliman took charge to deliver his best performance since the season start: 22 points (7/9 on 2-pointers, 2/4 on 3-pointers), 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks and 2 steals for a 28 efficiency rating in 31 minutes. Until then, he hadn’t exceeded 16 points or 16 in efficiency rating. This performance illustrates his rising form in a competitive league.

Observers praise his composure

Specialized media outlet Scouting Lab highlighted his game on X, emphasizing his maturity and impact:

« Nathan Soliman continues to prove he’s one of the most advanced prospects of his generation. At just 16 years old, he showed composure, toughness, and impact on both ends of the floor against adults. »

Former player Jonathan Dogbo also emphasized his versatility, his ability to attack the rim, create space, and protect the basket thanks to his height and wingspan.

A potential to watch closely

At INSEP since 2021, when he was only U14, Nathan Soliman continues his development in a demanding environment. With his 6’8″ frame, mobility, and basketball IQ, he’s already catching the attention of European scouts. If he maintains this trajectory, he could become the standout player of the 2009 generation.
