Poitiers to complete recruitment with Rouen’s top scorer, Marcus Hammond
Lilian Bordron
Marcus Hammond (6’3″, 25 years old), who had a great 2024-2025 season with Rouen in Pro B, has signed with Poitiers Basket 86. The club officially announced his signing this Monday, June 30, confirming yesterday’s announcement.
After arriving in France in 2024 following a solid NCAA career (notably at Niagara and Notre Dame), Marcus Hammond quickly found his footing in Pro B. With Rouen Métropole Basket, he averaged 12.8 points with 45.4% three-point shooting and 3.4 assists in just 22 minutes per game. A notable impact for his first professional season, particularly thanks to his ability to create opportunities and score from behind the arc.
Having played at Niagara and Notre Dame universities, Marcus Hammond scored over 1,000 points in NCAA and built a reputation as a reliable and intelligent player, earning multiple honors in the MAAC conference.

Poitiers is betting on an offensive profile capable of playing both point guard and shooting guard positions, and an excellent pick-and-roll player. « Marcus is coming off a very promising first season in France. He’s a player who can create, especially in pick-and-roll situations. He’s also a high-volume, high-percentage three-point shooter, » explained PB 86 head coach Andy Thornton-Jones in the club’s official statement.
Already seen at Salle Saint-Éloi last season with Rouen, Marcus Hammond will now play there wearing Poitiers’ colors. A measured yet ambitious bet for a club aiming for a prominent position in ELITE 2.
