The Los Angeles Lakers concluded their six-game road trip with a convincing 137-130 victory over the Indiana Pacers Wednesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena. Despite several significant absences, the Purple and Gold dominated a struggling Pacers team, improving their record to 47-26 and winning 10 of their last 11 games.

Luka Dončić was once again the main architect of this victory with 43 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds. The Slovenian guard made 15 of his 30 field goal attempts and 9 of his 10 free throws, confirming his status as a serious MVP candidate. This performance marks his 11th consecutive game with over 30 points, tying the franchise record held by Shaquille O’Neal.

A blistering start and a historic record

Dončić set the tone in the first quarter by scoring 21 points, allowing the Lakers to quickly take control of the game with a 17-point lead (45-28). This exceptional performance makes him the first player since Michael Jordan in 1986 to maintain a 40-point average over six consecutive road games, with a 40.7 point average during this stretch.

LeBron James provided valuable support with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists, delivering spectacular dunks and assists. Austin Reaves added 25 points and 8 assists, while Jaxson Hayes recorded his first double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lakers played without Deandre Ayton (back soreness), Marcus Smart (right ankle contusion) and Rui Hachimura (right calf soreness), but compensated for these absences with a remarkable collective performance. The team shot 56.2% from the field and 39.1% from three-point range, while distributing 29 assists.

For the Pacers (16-57), Pascal Siakam scored 20 points while Andrew Nembhard set a career high with 19 assists to go along with his 14 points. Despite a late-game surge that cut the deficit to six points in the final seconds, Indiana never really threatened the confident Lakers.

This victory allows the Lakers to finish their road trip with a 5-1 record, consolidating their third place in the West. They will host the Brooklyn Nets on Friday for their return home, with the goal of maintaining this positive momentum heading into the playoffs.
