La Boulangère Wonderligue - With 8,234 spectators at the Sud de France Arena, Lattes-Montpellier (BLMA) recorded the second-highest attendance ever for an indoor women's team sport match in France. A festive evening concluded with a great victory against Villeneuve-d'Ascq (73-67).

BLMA didn’t just win on the court. This Sunday, in front of 8,234 spectators at the Sud de France Arena, Lattes-Montpellier shined against Villeneuve d’Ascq (75-70) during « Heraia » day, dedicated to promoting women’s sports. While the absolute record (8,300 spectators in Pau in 2006) still stands, the Hérault club achieved the second-highest attendance ever recorded for an indoor women’s team sport match in France.

A Full Arena and a Comeback Victory for BLMA

Exceptionally relocated to the Sud de France Arena, the game offered a real spectacle. Villeneuve-d’Ascq, led by Emmanuelle Tahane (13 points, 8 rebounds), dominated much of the game (49-52 at the 30th minute). But the Hérault crowd played its role as the sixth player in a stunning final quarter.

Two three-pointers from Nell Angloma and Julie Pospisilova sent the crowd into a frenzy, propelling the Gazelles to their second victory in two La Boulangère Wonderligue games. Lattes-Montpellier now joins Basket Landes, Charnay, and Angers at the top of the championship with two wins in two matches.

The Second-Highest Attendance in History

With 8,234 spectators, BLMA sets a new club record and a record for La Boulangère Wonderligue. This official attendance far exceeds that of the first Heraia edition (around 6,000 people) and comes close to the national historical record, set at 8,300 spectators during the Tarbes vs. Pau-Orthez match in 2006.

That evening, according to the FFBB Board of Directors’ minutes from February 17, 2006, and figures reported by La République des Pyrénées, 7,800 spectators were seated and 500 standing. A mark that still holds, but that Lattes-Montpellier has just come close to matching.
