Le Mans Sarthe Basket is preparing for their first big test this Monday evening (8 PM) at Antares. Against Paris Basketball, crowned national champions and already immersed in EuroLeague’s intense rhythm, MSB intends to build on their good start in Dijon while showing more consistency. Coach Guillaume Vizade emphasizes the need to combine intensity, game intelligence and collective ambition.

A special first home game

After a hard-fought victory in Dijon (89-91), Le Mans returns to a highly anticipating Antares crowd. « We need to channel the players’ energy for this opener, focusing it on our game plan, » explains Guillaume Vizade in Ouest-France. Aware of the event’s importance without wanting to overstate it, the coach prefers to emphasize collective coherence: « We need to protect our home court to have a good season, but without putting excessive pressure on the result. What matters are behaviors and content. »

The Clermont-born coach hopes to see his group improve on consistency and decision-making, two aspects already tested during their opening victory. « The positive was bringing home the win, now we need to repeat things, » he adds.

Paris Basketball arrives with momentum

Since their French Supercup clash, won by Le Mans (90-87) on September 20th, both teams have evolved. Paris has bounced back after this false start and a loss in the third-place game against Boulazac. With a commanding win over Gravelines-Dunkerque (109-66) and strong EuroLeague performances – a loss against Fenerbahçe (96-77) followed by a victory over Maccabi Tel-Aviv (101-94) – the Paris club seems to have already found its rhythm.

« Against Fener, it was more interesting even if it was against the reigning champions, » observes Vizade. « Paris will arrive already in their EuroLeague rhythm and high intensity. »

Le Mans wants to control the tempo

Though not favorites, MSB knows they’ve already found the recipe to challenge the reigning champions. « In the Supercup, we dominated the tempo and showed strong presence in the air, both in blocks and offensive rebounds, » recalls Vizade. This mix of aggressiveness and shooting accuracy will be essential to compete this Monday.

Le Mans players will also need to be more precise in their offensive choices. « Like them, we like to play fast, but we need to add precision to speed, » the coach further emphasizes. The challenge is significant: containing a confident Paris team already focused on European excellence.
