Joffrey Lauvergne attended the EuroLeague game between Partizan Belgrade and ASVEL, his two former clubs, as he recently returned from Kuwait due to Iranian attacks in the area. The opportunity for the French big man to publicly reaffirm his wish to return to the Serbian capital to end his professional career.

A return desired by Partizan’s president

The Auvergne native had made history at Partizan Belgrade between 2012 and 2014, becoming the first foreign captain in the club’s history. During his time there, he won the Adriatic League and two Serbian championships, establishing himself as an iconic figure for the team.

« I’ve always said I wanted to end my career at Partizan. That’s my goal. We’ll see if it’s possible in the future, but that’s what I want, » Lauvergne told Serbian media. The former French international, now 33 years old, is not demanding about the conditions of this potential return.

« I don’t care about the role. I just want to finish at Partizan. I heard the president suggested I come back. We’ll see, » he added in Serbian, showing his deep attachment to the club and local culture

A shared desire between player and executive

Partizan president Ostoja Mijailović recently revealed that he already wanted to bring Lauvergne back this season. The Serbian executive also expressed his desire to see the Frenchman return next year to end his career in the black and white colors of the Belgrade club.

This public statement by Lauvergne during the game against ASVEL confirms that discussions between the two parties could intensify in the coming months.
