JL Bourg welcomed back their coach Frédéric Fauthoux and celebrated with an impressive victory to conclude their preparation matches. Saturday evening, the Bressans wrapped up their preseason with a solid performance against Naples (109-77). Dominating from start to finish, they confirmed their good momentum before the start of Betclic ELITE and EuroCup.
From the start, JL Bourg imposed their rhythm, relying on solid defense and efficient teamwork to build a lead (34-18 after ten minutes). Led by Assemian Moulare (16 points), Tre Mitchell (15) and Adam Mokoka (14), the Burgians multiplied offensive solutions and already held a 27-point lead at halftime (68-41).
The rest confirmed Bourg’s superiority: domination in the paint, fast-break play and outside shooting allowed them to comfortably maintain the lead to finish +32.
While the results are very positive – only ASVEL defeated JL Bourg this summer in the Ain Star Game final – the injury list remains a concern. Already without Antony Labanca, sidelined for three to four weeks, the Red and Whites will also have to do without William McDowell-White. The Australian guard is suffering from a muscle contusion and will also miss three to four weeks of competition.
A setback as the official season approaches, but one that Frédéric Fauthoux and his group have managed to turn positive by validating an almost perfect preparation.
The season starts Saturday, September 27 at Beaublanc (6:20 PM), against Limoges CSP. A real test to evaluate the potential of this highly anticipated Bourg team.
