Adam Mokoka shares his ambitions with JL Bourg: « Win at least one title this season »

Back in France, Adam Mokoka (1.95m, 27) has chosen JL Bourg to restart his career in France. The international wing spoke during the LNB Media Day at Roland-Garros. The former Chicago, Cluj, and Venice player expressed his strong goal: to lead JL to a trophy.

An atypical journey before Bourg

U16 European Champion in 2014 and U18 in 2016 with the 1998 generation, Adam Mokoka has traveled extensively. From the NBA with the Chicago Bulls (25 games played) to Romania, through Serbia and Italy, he has accumulated diverse experiences. « I’ve been able to experience different playing styles, gain experience, and mature », he explains to Le Progrès.

An athletic 3/2 position player and intense defender, he returns to France particularly to reunite with Frédéric Fauthoux, who coached him in the U16 French team (in Riga) and later selected him for the senior national team last year. « First, I wanted to return to France. Then, I wanted to work again with Fred Fauthoux who selected me for the senior national team (4 caps) last November and with whom I won the U16 European Championship… I also wanted to play for an ambitious club and show good things within a renewed team », he emphasizes.

An almost completely renewed roster

JL Bourg has turned the page on its previous season by changing ten out of eleven players. Far from being worried about this reconstruction, Mokoka sees it as an opportunity: « I find it exciting. We can only be confident when we see all these good players, with a mix of youth and experience ».

The former Cluj-Napoca player is part of this group that aims high from the start of the season, despite preparation disrupted by absences. The first official game is scheduled for September 27 against Limoges.

Objective: reaching new heights

After reaching the playoff semifinals in recent seasons, Bourg wants to go further. Mokoka doesn’t hesitate to show his colors: « It’s possible to reach the finals! We want to take a new step forward and win at least one title. There are four different competitions, we must win at least one ».

The ambition is clear: this JL Bourg 2025-2026 wants to convert its potential into concrete success.
