The Milwaukee Bucks star once again worried his supporters Sunday night. Giannis Antetokounmpo was forced to leave the game against the Indiana Pacers after a difficult landing on a dunk late in the third quarter. Despite this early exit, the Bucks won 134-123.

The Greek power forward initially tried to continue playing after his fall. He even made another dunk on the following possession before being sent to the free-throw line. It was after attempting his two free throws that Antetokounmpo headed to the locker room, not returning to the court for the rest of the game.

A knee injury that worries but doesn’t alarm

In 30 minutes of play, the two-time MVP recorded 31 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists. Coach Doc Rivers gave his diagnosis after the game: « I think he hyperextended his knee, but I’m just guessing. »

Antetokounmpo was reassuring about his physical condition. « I’m just going to go home, sleep, see how I feel tomorrow, try to lift some weights, » the Bucks star said. « If I have a little discomfort, then I’ll see. Right now, it doesn’t really bother me. »

The 31-year-old player specified that he was not planning to undergo medical examinations immediately. He also revealed that he thought he could finish the game but had chosen to follow the advice of the team’s medical staff.

This new physical scare adds to an already complicated season for Antetokounmpo injury-wise. He has already missed a personal record of 31 games this season, particularly due to two extended absences from right calf strains. He had also already missed the 122-99 loss to Atlanta Saturday due to a left ankle sprain.
