EuroBasket 2025: Şengün’s kept promise, a Rolex gifted to Osmani after containing Antetokounmpo

Alperen Şengün kept his word. Nearly a week after Turkey’s stunning victory against Greece (94-68) in the EuroBasket 2025 semi-finals, the Houston Rockets star made his promise official on Instagram. A photo shows him giving a Rolex to Ercan Osmani, with the caption: « Promise kept ».
Heroic defense rewarded with a luxury watch
This reward follows Osmani’s exceptional defensive performance against Giannis Antetokounmpo during this historic semi-final. The Turkish defender limited the « Greek Freak » to 12 points (6/13), his lowest total of the tournament. Quite a feat, considering Antetokounmpo was averaging 29.8 points before this game.
Şengün had revealed after the match that he had promised a Rolex to Osmani if he managed to keep Antetokounmpo under 20 points. Mission accomplished for the defender, who also shone on offense with 28 points on 11/15 shooting and an impressive 6/8 from 3-point range.
Turkey shined collectively, with four players scoring over 10 points. Şengün recorded a double-double (15 pts, 12 rebs, 6 asts), well supported by Cedi Osman (17 pts) and Shane Larkin (14 pts and 5 rebs).
This performance allowed Turkey to quickly take control of the game, building a 20-point lead in the second quarter to reach halftime with an 18-point advantage. Antetokounmpo, limited to 4 points in the first half, could never find his usual rhythm against the suffocating Turkish defense orchestrated by Osmani.
