Anadolu Efes finds its rhythm: +31 against Cordinier’s former club
Anadolu Efes put on an offensive clinic against Virtus Bologna, rolling to a 91–60 win in Istanbul in Round 28 of the EuroLeague. Pablo Laso’s team controlled the game from start to finish in front of its home crowd, setting the tone early and winning all four quarters without ever letting Virtus find a foothold.
Cole Swider and Saben Lee lead Turkish offense
Anadolu Efes’s attack worked wonderfully with five players reaching double digits. Cole Swider was the most prolific with 22 points, closely followed by Saben Lee and his 18 points. Ercan Osmani also contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds, while P.J. Dozier and Sehmus Hazer each added 10 points to the Turkish tally. Coming off the bench, Isaïa Cordinier only played 13 minutes, recording 3 assists. Starting, Vincent Poirier accumulated 6 points and 6 rebounds in 17 minutes.
On the Virtus Bologna side, only former Le Mans player Matt Morgan and Alen Smailagic managed to stand out with 12 points each. The Italian team never found the solution against the Turkish defense and suffered Anadolu Efes’s dominance for forty minutes.
Third quarter makes the difference
Efes was in control throughout, but the game effectively broke open after halftime. A blistering 14–2 run in the third quarter turned a manageable lead into a decisive one, blowing the game wide open and allowing the Turkish side to cruise the rest of the way without looking back.
This victory continues Anadolu Efes’s positive momentum under Pablo Laso. After two wins during last week’s double-week, the Istanbul team confirms their resurgence, even though their record remains challenging with 9 wins and 19 losses. Virtus Bologna, meanwhile, has a record of 12 wins and 16 losses.
Moving forward, Anadolu Efes will travel to face Red Star Belgrade, while Virtus Bologna will host FC Barcelona at home.
