Shake Milton is preparing to cross the Atlantic for the first time in his professional career. According to BasketNews, the 28-year-old American guard is in advanced negotiations with Partizan Belgrade to join Euroleague, marking a major turning point in his basketball journey.

A sudden departure from Lakers to Europe

Milton’s European adventure follows a sudden decision by the Los Angeles Lakers. On July 20, the California franchise chose to waive the former Philadelphia 76ers player, avoiding guaranteeing his $3 million contract that would have been due on that specific date.

This release now paves the way for a new chapter for the Philadelphia native, who quickly explored opportunities across the Atlantic. Partizan Belgrade, a historic European basketball organization, represents an ideal destination for a player of his caliber looking to experience continental elite competition.

An impressive NBA resume at Belgrade’s service

Milton comes to Europe with solid credentials, built over 359 games played in the NBA. His journey has taken him through six different franchises: Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, and Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 8.1 points and 2.4 assists per game.

His three-point accuracy (36% career shooting) is one of his major assets, as demonstrated by his historic performance during the 2019-2020 season. That year, Milton tied the NBA record by converting 13 consecutive three-pointers, while also recording his career-best performance with 39 points against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Last season, split between Brooklyn and Los Angeles, the guard proved his offensive capabilities again by scoring 21 points in a game against the Washington Wizards. These statistics showcase an experienced player capable of bringing his NBA expertise to the European level and adapting to Euroleague’s tactical demands.
