Wembanyama’s Spurs crush the Suns and extend their winning streak to 7

The San Antonio Spurs continue their impressive streak by dominating the Phoenix Suns 121-94. This seventh consecutive victory confirms the rise of the Texas team, which took advantage of Devin Booker‘s absence to pull away from the second period.
A decisive turning point at the start of the second quarter
The game shifted with a 13-0 run to open the second quarter. Julian Champagnie hit two consecutive 3-pointers, while Harrison Barnes added an and-one to widen the gap. At halftime, San Antonio already led 61-49, but the real knockout blow came after the break.
The third period turned into a nightmare for Phoenix with a 37-22 run in favor of the Spurs. Stephon Castle, Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vassell hit three consecutive shots from beyond the arc to blow the game open. Castle shined with 20 points in 21 minutes (8/11 shooting) and 3 steals, while Wembanyama recorded a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, along with 5 blocks.
Booker’s absence sinks Phoenix’s hopes
The turning point of the game is largely explained by Devin Booker’s injury, who left after only 9 minutes of play due to right hip pain. The Suns guard did not return to the court after halftime, depriving his team of their number 1 playmaker. Despite 26 points from Jalen Green (4/9 from 3-point range) and Mark Williams‘s double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds), Phoenix never found the necessary offensive solutions.
The Spurs displayed impressive collective mastery with 51.7% shooting and 30 assists. De’Aaron Fox orchestrated the offense with 15 points and 8 assists, while Dylan Harper contributed 17 points off the bench. Luke Kornet lso contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds on 5/5 shooting.
With this commanding victory, San Antonio confirms its progress and positions itself favorably for the rest of the season. The team will stay in Austin to face Sacramento Kings on Saturday, before beginning a five-game road trip that will be crucial for their playoff standings.
