Before this matchup, the San Antonio Spurs had won six of their last seven games.Riding that momentum, the Texas team strengthened its hold on second place in the Western Conference. The Clippers, meanwhile, were without Kawhi Leonard, sidelined with an ankle injury.

Victor Wembanyama led the way with 21 points and 13 rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs secured a key 119–115 win over Los Angeles. The victory pushes San Antonio to the symbolic 50-win mark (50–18), a milestone the franchise hadn’t reached since the 2016–2017 season.

Stephon Castle shines, Clippers without Leonard

Stephon Castle was instrumental with 23 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, setting the tone for the Spurs’ offense. Devin Vassell and De’Aaron Fox added 20 and 18 points respectively, as San Antonio stayed within three games of the Western Conference-leading Thunder.

For the Clippers, who are battling for a play-in spot, this second straight loss drops them back to .500. Kawhi Leonard’s absence — the league’s sixth-leading scorer — was clearly felt, with the forward sidelined due to a sprained ankle.

Darius Garland led six Clippers players in double figures with 25 points and 10 assists, while Jordan Miller added 22 points off the bench. Los Angeles’ reserves actually dominated San Antonio’s 57-30.

In the final moments, after San Antonio took a 115-102 lead, Garland scored seven of the Clippers’ last nine points to cut it to four points with 38 seconds remaining. But the Spurs sealed their victory by converting four consecutive free throws.
