Valencia Basket is very close to signing TJ Shorts.
The point guard will leave Panathinaikos, despite his multi-year contract, and is ready to move to Spain.
Last details, with Valencia Basket ready to overtake Hapoel Tel Aviv in the race for the point guard. The Spanish club will pay a buyout to the Greeks.
T.J. Shorts (1,75 m, 28 yo) began his professional career in Latvia with BK Ventspils before making his name in Germany with Hamburg Towers, Crailsheim Merlins, and especially Telekom Baskets Bonn. His breakthrough came in 2022-23, when he led Bonn to the Basketball Champions League title, winning both the regular-season MVP and Final Four MVP awards.
He then followed coach Tuomas Iisalo to Paris Basketball, where he enjoyed two historic seasons. In 2023-24, Shorts guided Paris to its first-ever EuroCup title, earning EuroCup MVP, EuroCup Finals MVP, French Leaders Cup MVP, and French League MVP honors.
In 2024-25, he helped Paris win its first French Championship and was again named French League MVP. During the club’s debut EuroLeague season, Shorts led the competition in assists and earned a spot on the All-EuroLeague First Team.
