Tyrese Maxey delivered an exceptional performance Thursday night in Philadelphia, scoring 40 points and hitting the game-winning basket with 1.3 seconds on the clock. The Philadelphia 76ers rallied past Sacramento 113-111, erasing an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to win in front of their home crowd.
Joel Embiid provided valuable support with 37 points, while Paul George added 15 points. This victory came in the second consecutive game with both Embiid and George on the court, finally giving Philadelphia the duo they had long awaited.
The decisive play unfolded after a missed shot by DeMar DeRozan that could have given the Kings the lead. Embiid grabbed a rebound with 5.2 seconds remaining on the clock, allowing Nick Nurse to call a timeout. On the ensuing inbound, Kelly Oubre Jr. found Embiid at the top of the key, who immediately passed to Maxey racing in from midcourt.
The young guard converted a left-handed layup while being fouled by Precious Achiuwa, sealing the victory for the 76ers. This spectacular play capped a remarkable comeback by Philadelphia, which had given up 38 points in the third quarter while scoring only 28.

Sacramento had built a comfortable 103-92 lead thanks to a three-pointer by Zach LaVine with 7:44 remaining. But the 76ers responded by scoring 13 of the next 15 points, tying the game at 105 on two Maxey free throws to spark the finish.
For the Kings, this defeat extends a losing streak to seven consecutive losses. Dennis Schroder (27 points) and DeMar DeRozan (25 points) delivered strong offensive performances, but it wasn’t enough against Philadelphia’s late surge. Maxime Raynaud contributed 8 points and 7 rebounds in 19 minutes. Sacramento now posts a disastrous 3-21 road record and has lost four games on this six-game road trip.
The absences of Russell Westbrook, Malik Monk and Keegan Murray weighed on the Kings’ roster, depriving them of important rotations in crucial moments.
