The Memphis Grizzlies finally tasted victory Wednesday night with a 125-118 win over the Denver Nuggets, ending a brutal eight-game losing streak. Ty Jerome was the primary architect of this success with a remarkable performance of 21 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists.
A collective performance against the Nuggets
Despite a roster decimated by injuries, Memphis (24-44) found the necessary resources to prevail. Olivier-Maxence Prosper contributed 19 points while GG Jackson II added 16 units. Cedric Coward contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds, while Taylor Hendricks came off the bench to score 13 points.
The Grizzlies’ defense made the difference by forcing 19 turnovers on Denver’s side, including 12 steals with 6 coming from Hendricks. This defensive aggressiveness allowed Memphis to secure its first victory since March 1st against Indiana.
On Denver’s side (42-28), Nikola Jokic delivered another high-level performance with 29 points, 14 rebounds and 9 assists, nearly recording his sixth triple-double in the last eight games. However, the Serbian center also committed 10 turnovers, handicapping his team in crucial moments.

Playoff positioning implications for Denver
Christian Braun (26 points) and Cameron Johnson (20 points) tried to keep Denver afloat, supported by Jamal Murray who compiled 19 points, 12 assists and 8 rebounds. But the Nuggets, playing their second consecutive game, suffered from the absence of Aaron Gordon, rested due to a hamstring injury.
This defeat keeps Denver in a delicate position in the Western Conference standings, remaining a few percentage points behind Houston for fifth place and now trailing Minnesota, in fourth place, by one game.
For Jerome, this performance represented a successful return after missing the 132-107 loss at Chicago Monday night due to injury. The guard came close to his first career triple-double, confirming his importance in the Grizzlies’ system despite a difficult season for the Tennessee team.
