Thunder’s collective effort secures crushing victory over Phoenix

The Oklahoma City Thunder delivered a remarkable offensive performance Wednesday night, crushing the Phoenix Suns 136-109. Jalen Williams led the charge with 28 points on an excellent 11-for-12 shooting, along with 5 assists and 4 rebounds.

A collective 3-point showcase

Isaiah Joe perfectly supported Williams with 21 points, hitting 6 of his 8 three-point attempts. The Thunder displayed remarkable long-range accuracy in the first half, converting 11 of 18 attempts (61.1%) to take a 75-52 halftime lead.

Kenrich Williams added 15 points while Chet Holmgren scored 13. The defending champions shot 58.4% overall and benefited from a prolific bench that contributed 74 points. This roster depth perfectly illustrates Oklahoma City’s collective strength, as they maintained at least a 20-point lead throughout the second half, extending the gap to 37 points in the third quarter.

Absences on both sides

Both teams were without several key players. Phoenix was missing Devin Booker (ankle), Jalen Green (hamstring), and Grayson Allen (knee). Coach Jordan Ott chose to rest Booker and Green, who were returning from injury and had played the previous night against Dallas.

For Oklahoma City, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander missed his fourth consecutive game due to an abdominal strain, along with Ajay Mitchell. The absence of Gilgeous-Alexander, the NBA’s second-leading scorer averaging 31.8 points, didn’t prevent the Thunder from dominating.

Despite this heavy defeat, Phoenix enters the All-Star break with an encouraging record of 32 wins and 23 losses, much better than expectations after Kevin Durant’s trade to Houston during the summer. Oklahoma City consolidated its NBA-best record at 42-13, confirming its status as a playoff favorite.
