In a playoff-like atmosphere, the New York Knicks dominated the Boston Celtics 112-106 at Madison Square Garden. This win keeps the Knicks in the race for second place in the Eastern Conference, while maintaining their lead over Cleveland for third place.

Josh Hart was the man of the match with 26 points, including 15 in the decisive fourth quarter. The Knicks forward hit 5 three-pointers on 7 attempts, including two crucial three-pointers in the final minute to seal the victory. « Hart scored 8 of New York’s last 9 points », highlighting his decisive impact in the clutch.

Jayson Tatum’s Symbolic Return to the Garden

This game marked the return of Jayson Tatum to Madison Square Garden, nearly a year after his Achilles tendon rupture during the 2025 playoffs. The Celtics forward finished with 24 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists, narrowly missing a triple-double despite limited shooting efficiency (7 of 22 from the field).

Boston played without Jaylen Brown, who was held out due to left Achilles tendinitis. Payton Pritchard (23 points) and Baylor Scheierman (20 points on 6 of 7 from three) provided valuable support off the bench, but it wasn’t enough against the Knicks’ collective efficiency.

Jalen Brunson orchestrated the New York offense with 25 points and 10 assists against just one turnover, while Karl-Anthony Towns added 16 points and 12 rebounds. This performance brings the Knicks’ record to 52-28, surpassing their win total from last season with two games still to play.

With this victory, New York wins the regular season series 3-1 against Boston and retains the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Knicks remain two wins behind the Celtics (54-26) for second place, but will need a favorable combination of results: two Boston losses against New Orleans and Orlando, combined with two New York wins against Toronto and Charlotte.
