The Golden State Warriors delivered a quality performance Sunday night at the Target Center, defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 111-85. This victory marks the fifth consecutive loss for the Wolves, their longest losing streak in over three years.

Stephen Curry was the driving force behind this victory with 26 points, accompanied by 7 assists and 4 steals. The two-time MVP was questionable before the game due to knee pain, but he brilliantly showed up to guide the Warriors (26-21) to within just 2 wins of the Timberwolves (27-19) in the Western Conference standings.

A blazing start that made the difference

The Warriors took control from the start with a blistering opening (14-2), leaving the Timberwolves in the lead only on the first possession. Moses Moody provided valuable support with 19 points and 8 rebounds, while Brandin Podziemski contributed 12 points, 6 assists and 4 steals.

Despite 32 points and 11 rebounds from Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves never managed to turn the tide. Chris Finch’s team was hampered by numerous turnovers, offering multiple fast-break opportunities to the Warriors who set a season record with 20 steals.

The game was definitively decided in the third quarter, where Golden State delivered a crushing 38-17 run against the Wolves. The lead grew to 26 points, allowing both coaches to rotate their rosters in preparation for Monday’s back-to-back between the two teams.

This performance allows the Warriors to win 7 of their last 10 games and move dangerously close to Minnesota in the playoff race. For the Timberwolves, this loss confirms their current struggles, with their lowest point total of the season and their first time below 100 points this year.
