SLUC Nancy signs Thai international player!

SLUC Nancy wanted to react quickly after Stéphane Gombauld’s injury. The Lorraine club has found its medical replacement in Martin Breunig (6’8″, 33 years old), a German center of Thai origin. At 33, this undersized center comes with solid experience in the Bundesliga, where he played in recent seasons with Bonn, Oldenburg and Mitteldeutscher BC.
An experienced center from Germany
Born in Leverkusen in 1992, Martin Breunig first played in Bayer 04’s youth teams before moving to the United States. After a stint at the University of Washington, he made a name for himself at Montana (averaging 18.9 points and 9 rebounds in 2015-2026), where he was twice named to the First Team All-Big Sky Conference.
In 2016, the Thai international started his professional career in Germany with Ludwigsburg, before playing for Bonn (2017 to 2020), Oldenburg (2020 to 2022) and Mitteldeutscher BC (2022 to 2025). During the 2019-2020 season, he averaged 13.5 points and 4.6 rebounds in 22 minutes with Bonn, his best statistical season. In 2024-2025, he was still very productive (10.8 points with 67.5% field goal percentage and 4.8 rebounds in less than 24 minutes) before suffering a serious finger injury requiring surgery. However, he has since returned to play with his national team.
A clear mission in Nancy
Breunig comes to strengthen SLUC Nancy’s frontcourt and compensate for the absence of Stéphane Gombauld, who is injured and out for six weeks. With his experience and ability to score near the basket, he will need to quickly integrate into the Lorraine team and support the other big men in the Betclic ÉLITE competition.
