Setback for Theo Maledon, already injured with Real Madrid

After a disappointing EuroBasket 2025 with the French national team, Theo Maledon (1.93 m, 24 years) thought he had started his new adventure at Real Madrid well with an encouraging first preseason game. But the French recruit has already been stopped in his tracks by an injury.

Real Madrid without its French recruit
Real Madrid issued a statement this Thursday about their player’s health status: « Following tests carried out today on our player Theo Maledon by Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the short adductor muscle of the left thigh. Pending evolution. » In other words, the point guard is suffering from a left thigh adductor injury. The duration of his absence has not been specified and will depend on how his recovery progresses.
A busy schedule ahead
The merengue club will quickly get into the thick of things. They will play their first official match on Saturday, September 27, in the Liga Endesa SuperCup semi-final against Tenerife. If victorious, the final will follow the next day against the winner of the Valencia – Malaga match. Then Real Madrid will continue with an EuroLeague double-week: an away game at Virtus Bologna on Saturday, September 30, before hosting Olympiakos on Thursday, October 2. A series that could well take place without Theo Maledon, at least partially.
