NCAA - Roman Domon has decided to continue his adventure with Murray State for his sophomore season, accepting an offer approaching one million dollars despite strong interest in the NCAA market.

Roman Domon is staying the course at Murray State Racers. As first reported by BeBasket, the French forward has opted to return for a second college season, passing on more high-profile options — both financially and competitively — to continue building where he is.

In a landscape that usually pushes players to jump at the next level, Domon’s decision leans the other way: stability, development, and a bet on continuity over noise.

Roman Domon chooses continuity despite multiple offers

Arriving last summer on the Murray State Racers campus after beginning his pro career with BCM Gravelines, Roman Domon put together a quietly impressive freshman campaign.

He averaged 14.2 points and steadily carved out a bigger role as the season unfolded, eventually breaking into the starting lineup down the stretch — 9 starts over the final 10 games. The breakout moment came on the road at Northern Iowa Panthers, where he dropped 29 in a performance that turned some heads beyond the conference.

By season’s end, Domon had built real momentum — enough to earn Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year honors and, more importantly, real market value. Bigger programs came calling, with stronger exposure and likely bigger offers on the table. He just chose not to chase them.

But the former Gravelines-Dunkerque training center prospect prioritized stability, in an environment where he quickly felt comfortable.

A significant financial increase: nearly one million dollars

According to our information, Roman Domon accepted an NIL offer approaching one million dollars to stay at Murray State. A substantial amount, even though it wasn’t necessarily the highest he could have obtained.

This choice confirms a trend among some European prospects in college basketball: prioritizing the athletic project and individual development, rather than constantly transferring through the NCAA portal jungle.

A frustrating end to the season despite a successful year

The 2025–2026 season, though, ends with a bit of a sour taste for Roman Domon and the Murray State Racers.

After a strong collective start, things tightened late, and the Racers saw their run cut short earlier than expected. Domon struggled in that final outing — a 1-for-11 night in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament opener — the kind of game that lingers, even if it doesn’t define the full season.

There was a chance to flip the script in the National Invitation Tournament, but the story didn’t shift much. Murray State exited in its first game there as well, despite a solid bounce-back line from Domon: 17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists on 6-of-14 shooting.

A frustrating ending, no doubt — but zoom out, and the bigger picture still holds: a highly productive freshman year, real traction, and a foundation that made staying feel like a bet worth making.

Towards a French colony at Murray State?

According to our information, Roman Domon might not be the only French presence in Murray next season.

Talis Soulhac (6’2″, 19), currently with ADA Blois basket, is expected to join the Murray State Racers — setting up the possibility of a French backcourt-frontcourt connection.

And maybe more than that. If Mathis Courbon (6’5″, 21) decides to extend, Murray State could be looking at a full-on French trio. For now, though, that last piece remains less certain — more wait-and-see than done deal.
