Real Madrid falls to Olympiacos as Dorsey and Vezenkov dominate in EuroLeague clash
Real Madrid endured a difficult night in Greece, falling 102-88 to Olympiacos in the 36th round of EuroLeague action. Despite the setback, Scariolo’s team remains in control of their playoff destiny with two rounds remaining in the regular season, still holding chances to secure a top-six finish and home-court advantage.
Olympiacos’ early 3-point barrage sets the tone
The Greeks established their dominance early through exceptional perimeter shooting. Six 3-points in the opening minutes, including four from Dorsey and two from Vezenkov, created a commanding 15-point advantage by the eighth minute. Madrid struggled with turnovers that disrupted their rhythm on both ends of the court.

Lyles provided the spark for Madrid’s late first-quarter response, contributing six points with two 3-points to help close the gap. His efforts reduced the deficit to 31-19 after ten minutes, giving the visitors hope heading into the second period.
Madrid’s spirited comeback falls short
The second quarter witnessed a dramatic turnaround from Scariolo’s squad. Increased defensive intensity significantly reduced Olympiacos’ shooting percentage while improved rebounding eliminated second-chance opportunities for the hosts. Lyles continued his stellar performance, reaching 14 points at halftime and connecting the team through his perimeter shooting.
Feliz and Maledon began penetrating the zone defense effectively, finding Tavares inside. Combined with Deck‘s contributions, Madrid orchestrated an impressive 16-0 run to overcome a 13-point deficit and take a five-point lead at 35-40 in the 16th minute. However, Bartzokas reintroduced his hottest players, Vezenkov and Dorsey, allowing Olympiacos to regain momentum and lead 49-42 at halftime.
The third quarter repeated the early-game pattern. Following an exchange of baskets, Olympiacos pulled away through another inspired shooting display from Dorsey, who finished with 40 points and eight 3-points, and Vezenkov, who added 24 points. Three consecutive 3-points extended their advantage to 65-49 by the 25th minute.
Madrid fought valiantly until the final buzzer, with contributions from Campazzo and Lyles, but lacked offensive inspiration. Bartzokas’ team managed their lead effectively in the fourth quarter to secure the 102-88 victory, leaving Madrid to regroup for their remaining regular season fixtures.
