T.J. Shorts‘s announced departure to Panathinaikos Athens is forcing Paris Basketball to revise its plans for the 2025-2026 season. The French capital’s club is now reportedly targeting Carsen Edwards (1.80m, 27 years old), who had an exceptional season with Bayern Munich, finishing with an average of 20.4 points per game in EuroLeague.
Paris aims to make a big move with Carsen Edwards
According to Meridian Sport, Paris Basketball has shown keen interest in Carsen Edwards, as the 27-year-old American is set to leave Bayern Munich. He made a strong impression this season in EuroLeague by finishing as the competition’s top scorer. He particularly shined against the Parisian club, averaging 30.5 points in their two meetings. This has caught the attention of Paris management.
Already capable of making significant financial commitments, as shown by their offer of over one million euros per season to Nadir Hifi, the 2024 EuroCup champions continue to demonstrate their ambition to establish themselves permanently in the European basketball landscape. Even though Hifi preferred AS Monaco, the Paris club remains active in pursuing major signings.
An impressive career path
After playing at Purdue in NCAA, Edwards started with the Boston Celtics before gaining experience in G-League, NBA, and Europe. Following a notable stint at Fenerbahçe, he joined Bayern Munich where he won the German championship in 2024. In April 2025, he even broke several EuroLeague records against Maccabi Tel-Aviv: 26 points and 8 three-pointers in a single quarter.
Known for his devastating scoring ability, he has the qualities to become the new offensive leader of an ambitious Paris team that’s already structured to compete at the highest European level.
Serious competition
While Paris Basketball seems well-positioned, other European clubs have shown interest in Carsen Edwards. Red Star Belgrade has expressed interest according to SPORT24, although the Serbian club now seems to prioritize Tyson Carter. The market is open, but Paris has strong arguments, particularly financial ones, to tip the balance in their favor.
