WNBA Draft 2026: Nell Angloma Selected 12th Overall by the Connecticut Sun

Young French talent Nell Angloma (6’0″, 19 years old) reached a major milestone in her career by being selected 12th overall in the WNBA Draft by the Connecticut Sun. The selection, which took place Monday night in New York, marks the Lattes-Montpellier player’s entry into the world’s most prestigious women’s basketball league.
The French wing-guard joins a franchise led by Rachid Meziane, the French head coach who has been in place since last season. This shared French connection could ease Angloma’s transition as she wraps up her second professional season with Lattes-Montpellier, who have qualified for the semifinals of the French Women’s Basketball League.

Promising Stats for the Young International
A French international since last fall with two caps to her name, Nell Angloma has confirmed her potential this season by averaging 15.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in league play. These performances convinced the Connecticut Sun front office to invest in this versatile young player.
The 2026 draft was headlined by Azzi Fudd, selected first overall by the Dallas Wings. The 23-year-old American joins her girlfriend and former University of Connecticut teammate Paige Bueckers, who was drafted first overall in 2025. Fudd becomes the seventh UConn player to be selected first overall in WNBA history.
Spain’s Awa Fam Thiam (19 years old, 6’4″) rounds out the top three, selected third overall by the Seattle Storm, where she will form a promising frontcourt alongside French player Dominique Malonga. Other Spanish players were also drafted: Iyana Martín at 7th and Marta Suárez at 16th.
The WNBA season will tip off on May 8 with the addition of two new franchises, Portland and Toronto, bringing the total number of teams to 15. For Nell Angloma, this draft represents the culmination of a remarkable journey and the start of a new American adventure with the Connecticut Sun.
