Nancy weakened against JL Bourg?

Nancy travels to Bourg-en-Bresse this Sunday with the idea of playing their chances, but also with squad management dictated by the schedule. According to L’Est Républicain, Kévin Marsillon-Noléo could once again be absent against JL Bourg, as Nancy’s staff considers not taking risks before hosting Gravelines-Dunkerque, a more direct encounter in the battle to avoid relegation.
An interior player still being protected?
Affected by an adductor injury, Kevin Marsillon-Noléo (6’7″, 23 years old) could be rested for this away game at Ekinox. SLUC Nancy’s staff remains « on the lookout for an opening, » but without forcing a premature return for the French forward. An absence that would be felt in a game expected to be very physical against one of the most athletic teams in Betclic ELITE.
In the league this season, the interior player averages 6.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in 19 minutes, bringing density and versatility to Nancy’s paint. His potential absence would further reduce interior options against a Bourg team renowned for its power.
A pressure-free trip to Bourg-en-Bresse
Against JL Bourg, Nancy are not the favorites. Sylvain Lautié’s men have so far built their away successes in Boulazac, Saint-Quentin and Le Portel, courts more accessible than Ekinox. Bourg-en-Bresse, despite a recent streak of four losses across all competitions, remains a cut above with bench depth and European-level pace.
Nancy’s coach acknowledged this in L’Est Républicain: « I don’t think the trip to Bourg-en-Bresse is among the best opportunities. However, we’re obviously going there to win. » The objective will primarily be to respond to the physical challenge and stay in the game as long as possible.
Managing the present… and especially what comes next
With this in mind, managing Marsillon-Noléo’s situation makes perfect sense. Preserving a key player for hosting Gravelines-Dunkerque could prove strategic, as SLUC holds a still-fragile lead over the playoff spot. In Bourg-en-Bresse, even depleted, Nancy will try to « stand tall, » aware that survival will also require fine management of their forces over time.
