Dominique Malonga completes the first dunk of the Unrivaled season: « It was a big moment »

Dominique Malonga delivered a memorable spectacle to women’s basketball fans Saturday night in Miami. The French-Cameroonian center completed the first dunk of the 2025 Unrivaled season during the first quarter of the game between Breeze BC and the Lunar Owls.
On a pass from her teammate Rickea Jackson, Malonga easily slammed the ball home with her right hand, igniting enthusiasm from the crowd in attendance. This technical feat once again confirms the exceptional athletic abilities of the French international, who had already made a splash in October 2024 by dunking during a EuroCup game.

A complete performance from the young French prodigy
Beyond this spectacular moment, Malonga delivered a high-level performance with 21 points and 8 rebounds, contributing to Breeze BC’s 75-68 victory. These statistics continue her excellent Unrivaled averages: 15.2 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.
« It feels really good. I’ve been practicing a lot, » Malonga shared after the game. « I don’t want to be a practice dunker, I want to do it in games. So, I’m happy about that… I was happy to feel the love from the whole arena, actually. Everybody was so excited – it was a big moment. »
This performance marks a turning point for the young French player, who hadn’t dunked during her rookie season with the Seattle Storm in the WNBA, where she nevertheless impressed with averages of 7.7 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 55.1% from the field.
Malonga becomes the second player to dunk in Unrivaled history, after Brittney Griner last season.
« I love it because everybody gets excited, » she had said about her dunking abilities. « I get excited and I feel like it’s going to give me a lot of energy to put on the court after. It’s a great feeling. »
A member of the French team that won silver at the 2024 Olympic Games, Malonga continues to write her story in American women’s basketball, confirming her status as a future star of the sport.
