Monaco hosts Gravelines without two big men

Monaco finally reunites with its home crowd this Tuesday evening. For this postponed match from the 14th round of Betclic ELITE against BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque, the Roca Team will have to make do without two of its big men, Yoan Makoundou and Daniel Theis, who remain unavailable.

Still without Makoundou and Theis in the paint
Having stayed in the Principality during the end-of-week road trip, Yoan Makoundou (2.07m, 25 years old) and Daniel Theis (2.03m, 33 years old) continue their recovery. The two big men are not listed on the game sheet and will watch the game from the stands at Gaston Médecin. An absence that further reduces the options in the paint for AS Monaco, even though the roster remains deep.
It remains to be seen if Vassilis Spanoulis will choose to rest other elements of his group. During the victory in Nancy on Saturday night, Mike James had been left to rest in street clothes, in order to manage efforts during a very busy week.
A schedule that remains just as packed for the Roca Team
This matchup against Gravelines, originally scheduled for December 26 but postponed due to the EuroLeague game between Monaco and Real Madrid, kicks off another three-game week for the Monegasques. After hosting BCM, the Roca Boys will travel to Paris on Thursday in EuroLeague, before welcoming Limoges on Saturday in the championship.
Facing them, BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque arrives in the Principality in great difficulty, engaged in a fight to avoid relegation. On paper, the matchup seems heavily unbalanced, but rotation management and fatigue could be an important factor for Monaco.
Monaco, an impressive momentum
The Roca Team is currently riding high. Eight consecutive victories across all competitions, series of five wins in both Betclic ELITE and EuroLeague – the last defeat dates back to December 17 in Vitoria – testify to the exceptional form of the Principality club. Solid defensively, collective offensively, carried by consistent leaders and efficient role players in the shadows, Monaco establishes itself as the current national reference and one of the most feared teams in Europe.
Even without Makoundou and Theis, the Monegasques will attempt to continue this streak and consolidate their position at the top of the championship.
