Mohamed Diarra (2.07m), a 25-year-old French big man who turned pro at Limoges CSP after a notable NCAA career with NC State, could soon be heading to Cholet. According to Ouest-France and Le Populaire du Centre, discussions are ongoing between the player’s camp and the Mauges club for the 2025-2026 season.

Cholet targeting strength with Mohamed Diarra

With the departures of Aaron Wheeler and Bastien Vautier, Cholet’s frontcourt needs rebuilding. To partner with the re-signed Jamuni McNeace, Cholet Basket’s management – led by Guillaume Costentin – is targeting Mohamed Diarra, a profile that matches coach Fabrice Lefrançois’ expectations: young, athletic, versatile.

The former NC State player has shown promising signs in his first professional season in Betclic ELITE: averaging 9.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1 block in 30 games with Limoges. With a good mid-range and long-range shot (45% field goal percentage, including 30% from 3-point range), the 2.07m Diarra can play both power forward and center positions.

Transfer dependent on buyout clause

Under contract with CSP until 2026, Mohamed Diarra reportedly has an exit clause requiring a buyout. Cholet could activate this clause by reinvesting part of the transfer fee received from Soren Bracq’s move to Gravelines.

Though the player had some friction this season, notably with Jamuni McNeace – now potentially a future teammate – he’s seen as a strong character addition. His desire to experience the Champions League (BCL) with Cholet could tip the scales.
