Juwan Ekanga-Ehawa joins JL Bourg’s professional roster for 2025-2026
Juwan Ekanga-Ehawa (6’5″, 17 years old), an athletic combo guard born on October 5, 2007, will take an important step in 2025-2026. At 17, the son of former Cameroonian international Joachim Ekanga-Ehawa will join JL Bourg’s extended professional group while continuing his development with the U21 team.

An upward trajectory in Bourg-en-Bresse
After arriving at JL Bourg in 2022 following a strong U15 season at La Ravoire Challes alongside Adam Atamna, Juwan Ekanga-Ehawa quickly climbed the ranks within the Bourg training center. In Espoirs ELITE 2024-2025, he averaged 5.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 28 games. He particularly stood out during the Future Trophy (averaging 11.0 points over 3 games), confirming the hopes placed in him.
A dynamic combo guard capable of creating for himself and others, he perfectly integrated into the U21 team, actively contributing to their French championship title. He will be one of the pillars of the Espoirs team next season alongside point guard Isaac Guedegbe (from Roanne) and Khadim Kane.
Recognition of youth development work
« We’re not looking to showcase youth development symbols within the professional roster, but rather to chart paths to the highest level, » emphasized François Lamy, the club’s sports consultant, on the club’s website. He highlights the young player’s physical and technical qualities, as well as his basketball IQ, shaped by JL’s training center.
For Nicolas Croisy, Espoirs coach, Juwan Ekanga-Ehawa’s impact was decisive at the end of the season: « He unlocked many situations for us, even winning some games despite his young age. » A testimony that reinforces the club’s confidence in his potential.
