Luka Doncic breaks all records at EuroBasket 2025

Luka Doncic delivered an exceptional performance in Slovenia’s victory against Italy (84-77) in the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 round of 16. With 42 points, the 26-year-old superstar reached several historic milestones that already mark this continental tournament.
Record first quarter and impressive streak
The Slovenian point guard immediately set the tone by scoring 20 points in the first quarter alone, setting the record for most points scored in a quarter during this 2025 edition. His efficiency was remarkable with 7 made shots out of 10 attempts, including three three-pointers out of six shots, complemented by a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
This performance allows Doncic to extend his streak of 25+ point games to six consecutive EuroBasket matches. His last performance below this mark dates back to the 2022 quarter-finals against Poland. Only Greek legend Nikos Galis holds a better record with 19 consecutive matches, while Giannis Antetokounmpo currently maintains a nine-game streak.
Making European basketball history
Upon reaching 27 points, Doncic became the fourth Slovenian player to cross the 500-point mark in competition history, joining Dennis Schroder (Germany) and Jonas Valanciunas (Lithuania) who also achieved this feat during this tournament. The Lakers player entered this game with 473 points accumulated in 21 appearances since his debut in 2017.
At 30 points, he recorded his fourth 30+ point game of this edition (after 34 against Poland, 39 against France and 37 against Israel), reaching this total by halftime. Only Nikos Galis did better with five 30+ point games in the 1989 edition.
A legend in the making
By crossing the 40-point mark, Doncic joined the very exclusive circle of players who have achieved multiple 40+ point games in EuroBasket history. His personal record remains at 47 points against France in 2022. Lauri Markkanen also achieved this feat during this tournament, joining Galis (6), Eddy Terrace (2) and Doron Jamchi (2).
With his final 42 points, the Slovenian star surpassed Jaka Lakovic (509 points) and matched Ivo Daneu (515 points) in the ranking of Slovenia’s all-time EuroBasket scorers. Only Goran Dragic (696 points) now remains ahead of him in this national hierarchy, a record that seems within reach for the prodigy from Ljubljana.
