Lorenzo Brown will no longer play for Olimpia Milan, announces his coach

Peppe Poeta confirms Lorenzo Brown’s departure from Olimpia Milan. The Italian coach has made official that the Spanish-naturalized American point guard is no longer part of the Milan project after a difficult EuroLeague season.
Olimpia Milan returned to winning ways against Partizan Belgrade on Matchday 25 of the EuroLeague, but it’s Peppe Poeta’s announcement concerning Lorenzo Brown that’s drawing attention. The Italian coach confirmed in a press conference that the 34-year-old point guard will leave the Lombard club.
A collaboration that didn’t bear fruit
« With the club, we have decided that he is outside the project. We are as attentive as always to the market, but having only one recruitment spot available forces us to weigh our options very carefully, » Poeta stated after the victory against Belgrade.
Lorenzo Brown had joined Olimpia Milan last summer after a failed stint at Panathinaikos, but his Milan season was marked by injuries. In only 12 EuroLeague games with the Italian team, the Spanish-naturalized American compiled just 5.8 points and 2.7 assists per game, statistics well below his usual level.
Several teams are following the situation of Lorenzo Brown and they already expressed interest.

This separation comes at a delicate time for Milan, which must also deal with Leandro Bolmaro‘s injury. The Argentine injured his elbow against Partizan, suffering a hyperextension according to his coach.
Concern grows around Bolmaro
« Pray for me, » Poeta confided about his wing’s injury. « With Bolmaro, we have an incredible record; without him, the story is completely different. He is too important to us for his defensive abilities that no one else on this team possesses. This could accelerate the market if it’s something serious, but he’s in good hands. »
The departure of Brown and the possible prolonged unavailability of Bolmaro could push Milan management to be active in the transfer market. With only one recruitment possible according to EuroLeague rules, Olimpia Milan will have to make strategic choices to maintain their European ambitions.
