The Los Angeles Lakers delivered an exceptional offensive performance against the Brooklyn Nets, winning 125-109 at the Barclays Center. LeBron James and Luka Doncic led the charge with 25 and 24 points respectively, in a game marked by the highly anticipated return of Austin Reaves.
Austin Reaves Returns After Long Absence
Austin Reaves made his comeback after missing 19 consecutive games due to a left calf strain sustained on Christmas Day. The Lakers guard contributed 15 points in just 21 minutes of play, entering during the first quarter with the team already in full control.

Before his injury, Reaves was averaging 26.6 points, which explains the importance of his return for the Lakers’ offensive balance. LeBron James had previously stated that it was difficult to evaluate the team’s potential without Reaves, and this game confirmed the positive impact of his presence.
An Offensive Display from the First Quarter
The Lakers had an exceptional start to the game, converting 15 of their 18 attempts (83.3%) in the first quarter to take a comfortable 45-23 lead. The California team even reached a remarkable 20 makes on 25 attempts early in the game.
Jake LaRavia also contributed with 18 points, allowing the Lakers to finish their road trip with a positive record of 5 wins and 3 losses. The lead peaked at 38 points before Los Angeles went to the locker room with a 29-point advantage (69-40).
On the Nets side, Michael Porter Jr. scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Day’Ron Sharpe finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds. However, Brooklyn suffered their ninth loss in ten games, confirming the New York team’s struggles this season.
The Lakers will host the 76ers Thursday night, just hours after the NBA trade deadline, while the Nets will travel to Orlando the same day.
