The Detroit Pistons continued their excellent run with a 124-121 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night. Led by a dazzling Cade Cunningham, the Pistons dominated a Denver team despite strong performances from Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic.
Cunningham and Duren shine in Pistons’ success
All-Star Cade Cunningham delivered a remarkable performance with 29 points and 10 assists, confirming his status as the undisputed leader of the Pistons’ offense. He was perfectly supported by Jalen Duren, also an All-Star this season, who posted a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. Duncan Robinson also contributed with 20 points.

This victory gives the Pistons five wins in their last six games, including a 109-107 win at Denver on January 27. Detroit’s squad came off a historic performance on Sunday, with a record 130-77 victory against Brooklyn, setting a new franchise record with a 53-point margin.
Denver fights back but falls despite Murray and Jokic
On the Denver side, Jamal Murray led the offense with 32 points and 8 assists, while Nikola Jokic posted 24 points and 15 rebounds. Despite these solid individual performances, the Nuggets never managed to take the lead in this matchup.
The Nuggets tried to rally late in the game, with Jokic bringing his team within 112-107 with 2 minutes 33 seconds remaining. Murray then hit a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to just two points, but Tobias Harris immediately responded with a crucial 3-pointer. Detroit ultimately sealed the victory from the free-throw line.
The difference was made in the second quarter, where Detroit dominated 37-23 to build a 69-50 halftime lead. Cunningham had already compiled 17 points and 7 assists, while Jokic was limited to 7 points on 3-of-10 shooting. The Pistons even led by 20 points early in the third quarter before Denver cut the gap to 93-80.
This game took place on the same day Detroit traded Jaden Ivey for Kevin Huerter and Dario Saric in a three-team trade involving Minnesota and Chicago, though both new players were not available for this game.
