Le Mans Sarthe Basket once again got the better of Paris Basketball, sixteen days after their SuperCup semi-final matchup. In a buzzing Antarès arena, Guillaume Vizade’s players delivered a gutsy performance to win 95-89. Trevor Hudgins (22 points) and Johnny Berhanemeskel (16 points on 4/9 three-pointers in 20 minutes) were the main architects of this Le Mans victory, achieved after a game of momentum swings.

A one-sided first quarter

From the start, MSB imposed their tempo. Led by their American point guard Trevor Hudgins, who scored the first five points of the game, Le Mans took control (13-4, 4th minute). The Le Mans collective relied on their inside shooting (9/10 on two-pointers in the first quarter) to counter Paris’s outside shooting success, embodied by Sebastián Herrera.

Supported by a packed Antarès crowd, the Sarthe team led after ten minutes of play (32-25).

Paris rallies before halftime

Despite missing Nadir Hifi and Justin Robinson, Paris Basketball managed to respond. The defensive intensity increased and Francesco Tabellini’s men went on a 17-3 run in six minutes. Jonathan Jeanne, though solid off the bench, couldn’t prevent the opponent’s comeback. MSB saw their lead shrink to just one point at halftime (46-45).

Hudgins leads, Antarès erupts

After the break, Paris took the lead (60-68) thanks to Yakuba Ouattara and Sebastian Herrera, before the game shifted again. Though sloppy but determined, Le Mans regained momentum in the final quarter. Johnny Berhanemeskel and Trevor Hudgins hit from behind the arc to reverse the trend (76-75, 34th minute).

In a high-intensity finish, Le Mans kept their composure to secure their first home win of the season (95-89). Already impressive in the SuperCup, Trevor Hudgins confirmed his role as offensive leader. Scoring 22 points, he was decisive at the right moment with a crucial two-pointer to maintain a two-possession lead.

And while Paris had one last chance to tie at 92-all, Amath M’Baye missed his three-point attempt. Paris thus leaves Antarès with their first Betclic ELITE defeat of the season. Le Mans remains among the undefeated teams. They won’t have time to celebrate as they leave Tuesday for Serbia and Subotica, where they’ll start their Champions League (BCL) season this Wednesday, before hosting ASVEL three days later.
