LaMelo Ball involved in car accident in Charlotte
The Charlotte Hornets point guard escaped unharmed from a collision with his customized Hummer in downtown Charlotte. Ball left the scene in a Lamborghini after the accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon.

LaMelo Ball was involved in a traffic accident Wednesday afternoon in downtown Charlotte. The Hornets’ star point guard was driving his camouflage-colored customized Hummer when the collision occurred around 5:00 PM, according to footage obtained by WSOC-TV.
The accident took place at the intersection of Trade Street and Tryon Street. According to witnesses, Ball’s vehicle, which was traveling west on Trade Street, was attempting to turn left onto Tryon Street when it collided with a gray Kia traveling in the opposite direction.

Significant property damage but no serious injuries
Footage of the accident shows the extent of damage to Ball’s Hummer, with the front left tire completely torn off. Only one person was slightly injured in this accident, without the identity of that person being specified. Ball himself was not injured according to a source close to the case who spoke anonymously to the Associated Press.
Videos broadcast by WSOC-TV show Ball, wearing a Hornets sweatshirt, exiting his damaged vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle involved also calmly exited his car and walked toward the Hummer. Police were present at the scene at the time of the incident.

After assessing the condition of his Hummer, Ball left the scene by getting into a Lamborghini, according to witnesses present. The Charlotte Hornets had held a practice earlier in the day and are scheduled to face the Houston Rocketss Thursday night for their return from the All-Star Game break.
This incident adds to a series of accidents involving professional athletes in Charlotte. In 2014, former Panthers quarterback Cam Newton fractured his back in an accident near Bank of America Stadium, less than a kilometer from Ball’s accident site. More recently in 2024, quarterback Andy Dalton injured his thumb in a similar accident.
The Hornets, who have won 10 of their last 11 games, have not yet officially commented on this incident involving their star.
