The Minnesota Timberwolves put on an offensive display Wednesday night at Target Center, cruising to a dominant 133-109 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. This convincing win ended the visitors’ three-game winning streak and allowed the Wolves to finish strong before the All-Star Break.

Julius Randle in All-Star mode with 41 points

Power forward Julius Randle was the main architect of this victory with an exceptional 41-point performance, accompanied by 7 rebounds. The former Knicks player capped off his evening with a spectacular windmill dunk that brought the Target Center crowd to its feet. This offensive explosion confirms Randle’s excellent adaptation to the Timberwolves system.

Jaden McDaniels provided valuable support with 21 points, including 15 in the first half that allowed Minnesota to take control of the game. Anthony Edwards, questionable before the game due to illness, was ultimately able to start and contributed 14 points.

Portland handicapped by 25 turnovers

The Trail Blazers paid dearly for their 25 turnovers against an aggressive Timberwolves defense. Despite 23 points from Jrue Holiday and 18 points from Scoot Henderson, who was playing just his third game since returning from a hamstring injury, Portland never managed to threaten Minnesota.

The game was definitively decided in the third quarter. After consecutive 3-pointers from Edwards and Randle (73-59), Rudy Gobert concluded a 16-2 run with a powerful dunk, extending the lead to 79-59. Although Portland attempted a late third-quarter surge (10-3) to cut it to 96-82, the gap was already too large.

All-Star Deni Avdija had a difficult evening with only 11 points, while the absence of Shaedon Sharpe, sidelined for the third consecutive game due to a left calf injury, was sorely felt. The Timberwolves, coming off a 138-116 victory over Atlanta, confirmed their return to form before the break.
